Count me in on this one! T love fresh sourdough bread. What do I love most about homemade bread? Umm. Homemade bread. I also love knowing that the bread is made of wholesome ingredients and doesn't contain a bunch of additives like the store-bought stuff.
ReplyDeleteI like that we can control the ingredients ... and, of course, the smell and taste are great!

I like that I know and control what ingredients I use. Plus, who doesn't love the smell and taste of fresh baked bread. Oh, and the feeling of accomplishment when it turns out just right! YUM!
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that I know exactly what goes into the bread... and that my kitchen smells great for hours!
ReplyDeleteOoo! I've never made sourdough! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteFavorite thing about homemade bread--kneading it, strangely enough. I find it oddly satisfying to turn a lumpy mixture into a velvety smooth ball of wheaty goodness all while using the power of my small but mighty hands :)
Kim, me too! People always complain about kneading and say how great it is when you don't have to knead certain breads...but that's the best part!
ReplyDeleteMe Please!! I like bread =) (I am tapped creatively and have nothing better to say than that!! lol)
ReplyDeleteHome made bread? ever since I was a kid, I loved the smell the whole house had when we were making oatmeal bread (my mom's only venture in bread baking), the feel of it in my hands while kneeding and couldn't wait to slather on butter when the new loaf was "cool enough". Now that I am just a bit older :-) & know a bit more about food & it's origins, the knowlegde of where the ingredients come from, who is involved in creating it, etc. Plus everthing is better homemade! Not to mention I'm a bread fiend!
ReplyDeleteNice, Tink! I love that I've found a local source for the whole grain flour I use. It's called "Mountain Mama" and it just makes the bread so much better!
ReplyDeletep.s. That's going to be part of the giveaway!
p.s. Is it wrong that I secretly want ALL of you to win? That's the only hard part about these contests!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the warmth and freshness when you get to eat it!
ReplyDeleteWe decided probably five years ago that we were "worth" good bread. No more junk fake bread. We started buying from a local bakery in MO that made fantastic bread...but then we moved! You would think a person could find good bread in Chicagoland, but it's a big place and there is nothing around our house, so I started making my own sourdough pizza crusts and honey whole wheat bread. When I got your book I added your multi-grain bread! I love the smell of baking bread!
ReplyDeleteI follow!
ReplyDeleteI love how fresh homemade bread is...it just tastes better than store-bought!
ReplyDeleteAaaah!! I just made a loaf of sourdough and gave it away (I catered a lunch today). It smelled & looked SO good.
ReplyDeleteIt was heart-wrenching.
;)
I love the delicious smell of home baked bread!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what's not to love about homemade bread?!
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite part is taking the first bite from a loaf of fresh bread--it's a heady experience...on top of that making bread is fun and I choose the ingredients.
I lost my sense of smell 4 years ago; I still desperately miss the smell of baking bread (eating it helps ease the pain!).
i follow! and my favorite thing about fresh bread is the crisp crunch on the outside and the soft warm inside...oh and the smell! mm!
ReplyDeleteI love homemade bread because it is fresh and you know what ingredients go into it.
ReplyDeleteI love sourdough, in general, but making homemade bread is a meditation for me. I can see each and every step of the process and know that I did that! Love your blog and your tweets, Tess.
ReplyDeleteXOXO!
ReplyDeletep.s. agreed - love that bread making is a meditative activity.
The smell of course, the hard-ish outer crust and soft warm interior of wholesome, healthy, local, home-made, whole grain goodness, The feeling of accomplishment in providing oneself with slow food served as it should be (maybe a little olive oil and garlic?)0h yeah and a cold beer in a glass!
ReplyDeleteHaving grown up in the SF Bay area, I LOVE sourdough! All homemade bread is great, though. Love the taste of the warm bread out of the oven or bread machine as well as the smell while it's cooking. Mmmmmm ...
